Sin duda la ceremonia numero 80 de los oscar, nos deja claro la superioridad de Europa en este año, después del extraordinario desfile por la alfombra roja, las estrellas de hollywood pasaron al teatro codak recibidos por el anfitrión, el cómico Jon Stewart

En la ceremonia los hermanos Ethan y Joel Coen fueron recompensados con cuatro Oscar por su obra "No Country for Old Men" ("No es lugar para deviles" donde el español Javier Bardem se alzó con la estatuilla a Mejor Actor Secundario por encarnar al villano de la trama, convirtiéndose en el primer español que se lleva una estatuilla
